Trust Officer – Twitter

Former fanzine editor, dabbling in digital tomfoolery for the greater good.

Why Swindon?
Though bought up in Swindon, I was, whisper it, originally an Arsenal fan like my Dad, but when I was about 9, my Cub pack were taken on a tour of the ground and allowed to ‘train’ on the pitch. We also got to meet some players, including, I believe, Alan McLoughlin, so it’s his fault. That day my brother and I both bought our very first Swindon merchandise, a pair of red sweat bands with the crest on each. And that was it, a life sentence.”

Favourite Swindon moment?
1993 was incredible, but I was too young to truly appreciate what a rare achievement it was, so I’m going to go with beating Leeds United 3-0 away at Elland Road in 2010. Having been at Uni in Leeds a decade before, when they were in their Champions League Pomp, it was particularly sweet.”

Why are you involved with the trust?
“Simply, because I believe football clubs belong to the community, and supporters should have a strong say in how they are run.”

What is your role?
“Self-facilitating media node (I do the Twitter).”

How would you like to see the Red Army Fund being used?
“After my earlier answer about why I support Swindon Town, a bloody great roof on the bank, so we can use it to get the next generation of Town fans through the door when it’s not masquerading as an away end. Oh and a bar in the Town End, ideally unlicensed and called ‘McCrorys’. Maybe it could have a bowling alley in it?”

Ultimately, what would you like the Trust to achieve?

“Running the club while Co-Owning the club with a benevolent Town supporting billionaire with nothing but an altruistic agenda. If you know of one can you get in touch?”
